About Us

A Child Advocacy Center built on trust.

Serving Scott and Fentress counties since 1999, coordinating law enforcement, medical and mental health professionals around the needs of one child at a time.

Accredited member of the National Children's Alliance since 2005

What We Are

A community response to child abuse.

The Children's Center of the Cumberlands is a Child Advocacy Center (CAC), a community-based, child-focused facility where children alleged to be victims of abuse or neglect are interviewed, and receive medical exams if necessary, therapy, and other critical services in a non-threatening, child-friendly environment.

Our facility provides a safe, child-friendly environment where law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, medical and mental health professionals share information and develop effective, coordinated strategies sensitive to the needs of each unique case and child.

Why the CAC Model?

Established in 1999, accredited since 2005.

The Children's Center of the Cumberlands was established in Scott County, TN in 1999 and received our 501(c)(3) non-profit status in 2000. We have been an accredited member of the National Children's Alliance since 2005.

By coordinating the response of agencies like law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors' offices, advocates, and mental health and medical professionals, CACs help ensure that when a child discloses abuse, they are not re-victimized by the very systems designed to protect them. CACs help coordinate care and investigation from first report to conviction and beyond, while keeping the child at the center of everything the team does.

Under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes, we ensure that no person shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age, be excluded from participation in or denied the benefits of any program we administer. We comply with all HIPAA regulations.

“Unity is strength. When there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”
