Five ways we respond when a child needs us.

Victim advocates are trained to support victims of crime. They offer emotional support, victims' rights information, help finding needed resources, and assistance filling out state victim compensation claims.

Our advocates accompany victims and their non-offending family members through criminal justice proceedings, and work with other organizations to get help, information, or connect the families we serve with other services.

Forensic services are provided to children who may have experienced abuse or witnessed a crime or violent act, aimed at ensuring the safety of that child and others in the community.

A forensic interview is a recorded conversation designed to elicit a child's unique information when there are concerns of possible abuse, severe neglect, or witnessed violence. It is conducted in a supportive, non-leading manner by a professionally trained Forensic Interviewer, and remotely observed by the agencies involved in the investigation.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) are nurses with specialized training in forensic medical and legal examinations. During these exams, children receive diagnosis and treatment of injuries from a trained, caring, competent medical professional in a child-friendly environment.

The purpose of the SANE medical exam of a sexually or physically abused child victim is specifically to assess, document and collect forensic evidence.

We are a licensed mental health outpatient treatment facility helping support children and families through difficult life transitions. Our program offers a full spectrum of behavioral health services, individual therapy, family therapy, art and play therapy, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT).

In addition to our two full-time therapists, we partner with Omni Community Health to provide mental health services based on the needs of the client or family, including support that doesn't involve past or present trauma from abuse or neglect.

We partner with both Oneida Schools and Scott County Schools to deliver prevention education from Pre-K through 12th grade. Topics include Talking about Touching, the Michigan Model, personal body safety, substance abuse prevention, healthy relationships, internet safety and abstinence, keeping school systems in compliance with Tennessee Code Title 37, Part 6.

We also provide community and in-service trainings, with staff trained in Darkness to Light: Stewards of Children, Child Abuse Prevention and Reporting, Abusive Head Trauma (SBS), and Safe Sleep/SIDS.
